About the book

A return to the self beneath survival.

Somewhere between achievement and exhaustion, many high performers lose touch with themselves. Life looks full on the outside. Yet inside there is a quiet tightening, a restlessness, a fear that does not match the life they have worked so hard to build.

In SPARK, Faith Foo guides you into the inner world that shapes every reaction, every decision, and every moment of feeling inexplicably stuck. Drawing on Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) informed practice, grounded neuroscience, and years of sitting with people at their most honest, she reveals how the nervous system carries old protections long past the point they were needed, and what becomes possible when those protections are finally allowed to soften.

This is not a book about fixing yourself. It is a book about returning to yourself.

If you have ever felt like you were shrinking inside a life you worked hard to create, this book will help you understand why, and begin to change it.

  • Understanding why insight alone is often not enough to create change
  • How the nervous system protects us, and why those protections can outlive their usefulness
  • Why success and joy can sometimes feel unsafe, and how that shifts
  • The D Spark Lab Framework, five stages the body moves through as it heals
  • What it looks like to lead, rest, and live from a regulated nervous system
Forewords
"Faith is among the pioneers of EMDR-informed work"

Faith is among the pioneers of EMDR-informed work who have chosen to bring this powerful method out of its purely clinical frame and into the wider world of leadership and high performance, without diluting its depth. As an EMDR-certified therapist, trauma-informed practitioner, and private leadership practitioner, she has spent years accompanying clients whose lives look "fine" on the outside yet feel quietly unbearable on the inside. These are the founders, executives, parents, creatives, and high achievers who know how to perform, to deliver, to carry responsibility, but who silently wonder why their bodies feel like they are bracing for impact long after the crisis has passed. This book emerges from thousands of those hours in the room and from Faith's own honest encounters with fear, pressure, and becoming.

Dr Roger Solomon, PhD, Widely respected figure in the EMDR field

If there is a book capable of revealing the hidden dimensions of our inner world, releasing us from what silently confines us, and guiding us toward the peace, balance, and authenticity we are meant to experience, this is that book. Faith writes not only with skill and elegance but also with a profound understanding of the human heart, offering a path toward transformation that is insightful, practical, and deeply restorative.

About the author

Faith Foo

Faith Foo is the founder of D Spark Lab, a private leadership practice in Kuala Lumpur. She is an EMDR-certified therapist, trauma-informed practitioner, and private leadership practitioner who works privately with leaders, founders, and high-performing professionals in Malaysia and internationally.

Her path into this work began as a counselor, drawn not to obvious crises but to the quieter suffering beneath polished exteriors, the tension hiding inside high achievement, the exhaustion that lives inside responsibility.

Over years of practice, Faith developed what she calls the D Spark Lab Framework, a structured yet deeply attuned approach to nervous system transformation. Her work sits at the intersection of trauma-informed practice, somatic awareness, and leadership development.

She is the author of I Love You, I Hate You, The 3 S'Elves and the Long To-Do List, the Burnout Recovery Guide, and SPARK.
